Meet the Wolfgangs HUNTER knife

As some of you may know, Rathwulven Bushcraft does collaborate with the German knife manufacturer Wolfgangs in terms of product development and improvement. Recently Wolfgangs have issued their new model called HUNTER.

This new model is specifically designed for bushcrafters, hunters and fishermen. It features a solid stick tang handle and a drop-point blade design manufactured from 420 steel. The handle shell is made from durable rubber to ensure a high level of comfort – its diamond shaped grid provides an optimal grip even in wet or cold weather conditions. The knife is currently trading for EUR 19,90 only.

#GOBACKPACK 2021 WITH TOM GREGORY

I had both the pleasure and honour to participate in Jack Wolfskin’s #gobackpack campaign for this year. Throughout two days shooting, I met the charismatic pop star Tom Gregory and taught him a couple of essential skills.

WINTER OVERNIGHTER & MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH

Winter is here and I want to take this moment to briefly talk about a serious topic: Modern man and his struggles on a psychological level.
It is no secret that many people are suffering from depression and anxiety these days, yet all too often people consider psychological struggles to be negligible.
Not worth talking about. Maybe even a full-on taboo.

Now that the worlds is facing yet another covid-related lockdown and all the mental stress that comes with it, I just wish to share an older talk video with you.

Last year I shot my take on the #showusyoursteak challenge – a campaign started by Haze Outdoors aiming at generating awareness for men’s mental health while spending some time outdoors, preparing a nice steak.

RATHWULVEN’S BANNOCK RECIPE

Bannocks (aka trapper bread) are probably one of the most popular dishes for woodsmen and adventurers. Legend has it that bannocks first originated in Scottland – so if you want to feast like a highlander, check out our recipe here:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of flour (135 g)
3/4 cups of water (120 ml)
1 spoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 spoon of oil (20 ml)

You may wish to add a spoon of seeds like fennel, plantago, sesame or so.

Preparation:
Mix the flower with all the other ingredients. Then knead the dough for about 10 minutes. The dough should be smooth and not sticky. Roll a dough ball with both hands and press it in between your palms so that you end up with a disk measuring about the size of your palm and being about as thick as a thumb. Add a bit of oil to your pan or cooking pot and bake until golden brown and lofty. That’s it!
